The U. S. Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday announced it has found that its arthritis drug Celebrex (celecoxib) is more effective in reducing pain than it does for all forms of arthritis, according to the agency’s press release.
The FDA also reported that the drug has a similar effect in treating the symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, which are types of arthritis that affect the hip.
Celebrex is prescribed to treat pain, swelling, stiffness and swelling in the joints of the hips, knees and spine. It is also used to treat a condition called rheumatoid arthritis, which affects the joints of the arms and legs.
Celebrex is approved for use in adults and children 12 years of age and older. It can be used to treat conditions that include:

Celebrex is available in capsule form and as an oral tablet, and it is available by prescription only. Celebrex is typically taken once a day.
